Simplemente no recuerdo una canción que me guste tanto y que se le hayan hecho tantos covers y con estilos tan diferentes. La verdad es que yo no le encuentro la explicación, claro tiene una letra espectacular, pero suena tan diferente en cada una de las versiones que me sorprende. Espero que alguien me pueda explicar por qué se da este fenómeno.
La canción es Such Great Heights, este single es el primero que lanzó The Postal Service en su carrera el 21 de enero de 2003 la canción ha aparecido en series como Veronica Mars, Grey's Anatomy y comerciales para compañías como M&M's, Target Corporation, United Parcel Service, Skechers, Ask.com y Kaiser Permanente. Quizás la versión más famosa aparte de la origina es la de Iron & Wine que apareció en el OST de Garden State, película dirigida por Zach Braff y que ganara el Grammy a mejor banda sonora en el 2004.

Otro dato es que la revista Rolling Stone la catalogó como la número 27 en las 100 mejores de la década.

Ya la había escuchado en Soy tu fans, pero el jueves pasado la escuché en vivo y desde ese día he escuchado pocas cosas, digamos que mi vida ha estado entre The Postal Service, Pearl Jam, Charly García y Carla Morrison.

En el plano deportivo sucedía lo siguiente:
El FC Barcelona cumple sus primeros 100 años de historia y lo celebra proclamándose campeón de la Liga española de fútbol mientras que el Valencia CF ganó la copa del Rey.
El Manchester United, campeón de la copa de europa por 2 a 1 frente al Bayern Múnich en el Camp Nou. Tras remontar en los últimos 5 minutos un 0-1 adverso (lo recuerdo perfectamente).
El FC Barcelona se proclama campeón de la Copa de Europa de Balonmano.

En el cine se estrenaron dos buenas películas, 19 de mayo: Star Wars Episodio I: La amenaza fantasma y el 31 de mayo: The Matrix

En el Distrito Federal gobernaba el ing. Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas y Alejandro Aura estaba al frente del Instituto de Cultura y es en esa época cuando se organizaban conciertos en la plancha del zócalo, así tuve la suerte de ver a Charly García por primera vez (en esa ocasión acompañado de la grandísima Mercedes Sosa), ayer lo pude repetir y fue maravilloso, la verdad es que no lo tenía planeado, pero un amigo me marcó en la mañana diciéndome que tenía 2 boletos, que si quería ir? la verdad es que no lo dudé ni un segundo. Imaginé que saldría tardísimo, pero no, sólo se retrasó 15 minutos que no es nada para el más grande del rock argentino. El concierto no pudo comenzar mejor sonaron Demoliendo hoteles y Cerca de la revolución así sin avisar y aunque le faltaron algunos clásicos la verdad es que salí satisfecho, cuando cantó Rezo por vos se la dedicó a Gustavo Cerati! Que nos emocionó a todos. Para el primer encore cerró con No voy en tren y en la frase “soy el que cierra y apaga la luz”, simplemente se apagaron las luces y se fue, cuando regresó lo hizo para tocar dos más y se volvió a retirar, regresando una vez más para cantar la última, Canción para mi muerte en la que también nos dejó cantando solos porque simplemente se levantó del piano y se despidió, sólo puedo decir GRACIAS CHARLY!
